Fun day out!
Getting up at 7am was never one of my strongest points and the only reason I ever got up at that time was either for school then onto uni or for meeting friends, otherwise I generally never leave my bed until well past 11am. I asked mum today to wake me up at 6am so that I could a) wash my hair before leaving the house and b) get up so that I’d be at the doctor’s in time. Being my mother, and taking pity on me, she woke me up at 7, giving me only 45 minutes to dress which is hard for me. It takes me half an hour alone to bathe, then half an hour to battle my hair into the sleek look I like with mum’s new hair dryer (which I’m planning on taking with me when I leave in two weeks), AND that’s just the basic stuff.
Anyways, for the past week I’ve been having these rashes appearing on my body. There would be a red patch and then they’d go into a pimple shape which was rather itchy unless I took anti-histamine. Heading to the doctor’s was a pain. The last time I went, I got told the doctor only saw temporary patients (which I was because I was only back home for about 2.5 months) in the morning (and this was evening), so this time I came in the morning and guess what. “I’m sorry, we have to ask the doctor if he can see you.” Luckily for me he said yes and saw me. Turned out I had a lovely skin infection and the only place I probably could have gotten it from was the jeans I tried on in Marks and Sparks. The jeans I brought. The jeans I was currently wearing. Probably a good thing it got thrown in a hot wash when it got home. Anyways, got prescribed antibiotics for the week and a body wash for several weeks (that I later discovered was one they used in hospitals and shouldn’t be placed in contact with the brain. Made me laugh that).
Came home, did the usual errands for the parents. I think they’re taking advantage of me being home for the next two weeks before realising the time and heading off to Borough Market by London Bridge to meet with Bucket, Jess and Livs. Got there, found Livs, lost bucket. Then we found bucket and got distracted by shops before finding Jess and before we made our way to the food market. Earlier, after getting the meds and being told by Bucket that I still had half an hour before Jess came, I took one of my antibiotics to find out Jess had come early and now I was stuck with 30 minutes of not eating. Luckily it took half an hour to reach the market but with a lot of teasing on my part. Stupid meds for not letting me eat
The sacrifices one makes to be come better.
Lunch was good. Purchased from the market itself. Livs and I had a hot dog where as Bucket and Jess had pastries and a pie, with brownies for desert. The hot dog being too big for poor old me to finish found its way into the lovely bin by the church before we spent half an hour just discussing our uni courses and the practical sessions we did. Also how we all managed to pass and fail pharmacology before heading off to the tate modern which we didn’t tell Jess until we got there. She then demanded her right to pout and whine until Bucket offered to sit with her in the cafe whilst Livs and I had our fun. There was a cool new art there, a giant table and chairs. It was so surreal to stand under it that we went and dragged Jess and Bucket to see it (after we finished discussing the various buildings we could see from the tate modern cafe) and no surprise, Jess loved it. After finding it weird though. Got Bucket her bday pressie though. A book, orgami post it notes and a hand which she called thing cause she could make it move. She fell in love with thing. So all was good with the world.
We left, having had our fun before deciding to walk down to waterloo station. On the way passing the thames festival stalls that were being set up. Near the national theatre, we found enormous chairs and lamps that we could sit on and took several photos there to show the fun we were having, sadly none made it onto FB as Jess said that there was only one decent photo and was just wiser to email it to everyone. Getting off, we left, before being distracted by Foyles on the way there and spending half an hour there until Livs and I dragged them out. After dragging them out, we decided to head home. Bucket cause she had dinner, me cause I wanted to be home before dark, Livs because she wanted to and Jess, well Jess had no reason.
Overall, was a fun day out, but one more week till UNI!
